To conserve or not to conserve? That is the question.

As more and more people realize that conserving water is doing a great service to our mother earth, more and more people are searching for ways to do just that. One way to conserve water that has become a growing staple for many households to cut their "water footprint" is rain barrels or rainwater collection systems.

With the many innovative ways we have come up with to help our environment we are left wondering how come, instead of being applauded, we are being informed in essence that we are now too good at helping out mother earth. How you say?  Well the word from the LCRA in the recent months is a proposed water rate increase due to lack of water usage.

So basically we are at the old adage, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."  The question remains do we conserve or do we not?  And if we do how much and is it ever too much?  For some there is no question at all because it is inbred in them to conserve at all costs in order to take care of this beautiful planet we call earth.  For others we ask ourselves if we keep conserving despite how it may hurt us due to the impact it has on our pockets. Still others of us ask ourselves if either way makes a difference because it almost seems like it won't. We all need water for our survival and will continue to need it until the day we die. Unless we plan on going back to a primeval way of living we need the water companies to some extent and boy do they know this.  Just some food for thought.
